Thinking of Residing or Romancing in Thailand? Ken Albertsen, was known as 'Brahma' when he resided 25 years in Nevada County. For the past 10 years he has secured properties in northernmost Thailand, writing books and developing a farmstead. Current plans are to develop an outdoor rock climbing/Adventure park. Anyone with any questions about Thailand - is welcome to meet informally for a round-table discussion with Ken. We'll meet in front of Seaman's Lodge on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 4:30 pm, and then go sit at the picnic tables below childrens' recreation area.

Loma Rica Ranch Harvest Festival & Pumpkin Patch. This event will benefit Child Advocates of Nevada County & Big Brothers Big Sisters and have many great attractions for all ages. Local organic food of all kinds will be complimented by local wines and microbrews and talented local bluegrass musicians will keep the stage busy all day long. Tour the CCOF Certified Organic Farm, pick up veggies in the Farm Stand and visit the new organic nursery. Dozens of artists and craftspeople will be selling their goods and Rock-n-Horse Ranch will be in full swing with several horse-drawn wagons circulating at all times. Kids can enjoy oodles of free games, a hay fort, haunted house, zipline and rummaging around the organic pumpkin patch. 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. Safe Trick or Treat. Parents and child care providers are invited to bring their pre-school age children for a safe trick or treat tour of historic downtown Grass Valley, California. Merchants throughout the downtown dress in costume and hand out candy to the children, while providing a safe environment. Witching hours are from 10am to 1pm on Halloween. Mill Street downtown is closed to motorized traffic. Window displays and costume contests are a fun part of this annual event.
